You’ll have easy access to the city centre on the Elizabeth Line. If you want to stay in a neighbourhood with plenty of energy you’ve got options in Shepherds Bush and Notting Hill. There's also the big question of how fancy you want to go, and with Chelsea in your sights you can truly live in the lap of luxury.

Whatever the reason, if you’re looking for a hotel in west London you’ll find a selection of the best below.

Ealing

The Drayton Court Hotel may be situated above a pub but this isn't your typical BnB. The place boasts 27 rooms, spacious gardens full of games, tennis tables and heaps of other fun activities.

That's all well and good, but what about the rooms? Well all 27 of them are individually decorated and come with en suite bathrooms – some even have luxury hot tubs installed.

In them you’ll find all the complimentary amenities you’d expect from a luxury hotel: coffee, bathrobes, slippers and all the rest to ensure your stay is as comfortable as can be.

Chelsea

If you seek some real top-class luxury from your west London hotels you’ll want to consider a stay at The Hari – They really know what they’re up to.

A complimentary glass of wine at check in? Yes please. Extravagant decor throughout? Sounds like a bit of us. A whole library bar of books to thumb as you sip on bespoke cocktails. How civilised.

As for the rooms: a choice of suits, regular rooms and an enormous penthouse are yours. Make sure to book for breakfast – you don't want to go without it here.

The elegant space that is 11 Cadogan Gardens has been functioning as a hotel for over 100 years. Things have changed a lot since it first opened. What was then one of the best hotels in west London is still just that, but now comes with amenities like yoga classes and fitness rooms.

The rest has been split down into a handful of luxury apartments for guests to stay in. Sizes range from one to three bedrooms and are all supremely luxurious – which might be why this hotel has been a favourite among celebrities staying in London.

The fact that downstairs’ Chelsea Bar does some of the best cocktails in the city doesn't hurt much either…

Notting Hill

Notting Hill is well known for its elegant charm and that's exactly what you’ll be getting at The Laslett. This west London boutique hotel is split across five of Notting Hill's classic town houses – all Grade II listed – and spares no expense on comfort.

One of the most telling signs of what you’ll be getting is probably that there's an art shop in the hotel's lobby. The team here values a bit of creativity, as do many of their guests. Needless to say then, rooms are chic and no attention is spared on stylish detail.

We will say this though: the rooms aren't massive. Think more like cosy couples getaway than family trip to the city.

Notting Hill

If you’re looking for a bit of Notting Hill Charm – but don't want to fork out the big bucks – then perhaps Notting Hill Hotel is the choice for you. It too is a cosy boutique hotel but that dip in price doesn't mean a dip in quality.

You’ll find your beds made with Egyptian cotton sheets and your room well-stocked with amenities. One major strong point of Portobello House is its location. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from Portobello Road Market, putting you right in the action of this bustling London neighbourhood.

Shepherd's Bush

Located a short trip from both Westfield Shopping Centre and Shepherds Bush Green The Dorset will put you right between two opposing spaces. One a giant mecca of consumerism with heaps of chain restaurants. The other is a neighbourhood with local vibes and immigrant restaurants serving up some seriously good home-style cooking.

Whatever direction you choose to go in you’ll find comfort when you get back to your room at the Dorset. You’ll also find them kitted out with flat screen TVs and speaker systems, even work spaces if you need them.

On the ground floor you’ll have access to Shikumen – a Chinese restaurant serving up some of the best Asian food in the area. It's also a short walk away from the 02 arena, which makes it ideal for anyone in town for a concert.

Hammersmith

If you want a west London hotel where you can pamper yourself into a dreamlike state then check out K West Hotel and Spa. The place is one of the top spa hotels in London, boasting Scandinavian-style saunas and dry floatation rooms, massage and hot-cold therapies to name a few.

The building actually used to be a BBC recording studio and much of the old flare still remains – seen in splashes of colour and portraits of artists like Bowie on the walls.

In the rooms you’ll find yourself in the type of luxury you’d expect from a spa hotel. Exceedingly comfortable beds and rooms with rainfall showers and spacious tubs.

Fulham

If you’re considering a few of the decent cheap hotels west London has to offer, include the Princess Victoria in your short list. Although you won't be paying through the nose for a room you will be getting the kind of comfort that means it can feature in a guide of high-quality hotels.

The rooms have a mix of styles but all are cosy and have an inviting warmth to their design. On the ground floor you’ll find a restaurant and bar, open to the public, which is a great spot to grab some food if you don't want to walk far.

Though if you’re feeling adventurous you’ll have plenty to choose from nearby.

It totally depends on what you’re looking for. If you want to be in a sleepier, leafier side of town, pick something in Ealing. If you’d like a bit more energy, try Notting Hill or Shepherds Bush. If it's class you’re after: Chelsea.

Tube mostly. With the Elizabeth Line now in full action you can get in and out of the city centre with ease. If you’ve got the money to splash you could take a taxi but it's often the case that public transport works just fine.
