The best slippers for men should feel like they’ve been stolen from the nicest hotel said man has ever stayed in. They should feel like “slip into something more comfortable” materialized on those hard-working feet at the end of a long day. But we at Condé Nast Traveler do not condone theft. If you feel compelled to slip that terrycloth pair of mules left for you in the boudoir or bathroom as a hotel guest, that’s your business—don’t bring us into it. Allow us to influence you ever so slightly in the direction of investing in a pair of your own. These slippers may not be emblazoned with the logo of your latest five-star stay, but they will be more permanent, more “you.”

Below, we’ve rounded some of our favorite men’s slippers at every price point. We’ve got slides and moccasins, terry cloth and suede, plush and svelte—we could go on. This particular hotel-stay luxury is very attainable for your day-to-day life.

Looking for slippers in women's sizes? We've got recs for those, too.

This terrycloth number from Oas—and if terry is your thing, you’d be wise to check out its robes by the way—is the closest this writer has seen an outlet come to direct emulation of the hotel slipper. Excepting the base, which is sturdier than the soft soles you’ll often find in a hotel, this is an inoffensive and casual cotton option to consider.

Bombas has quite a few solid slippers from which to choose—including the Gripper Slipper that really blurs the line between sock and shoe. But the Sunday Slipper, with its super-soft faux fur and slip-on, slip-off capability really puts it at the top of the heap in the realm of versatility.

Wool felt. Shearling lining. Cork footbed. Made in Portugal. Birkenstock manufactures footwear of fabulous durability and quality, from the famous sandals and clogs that you can wear here, there, and everywhere to the more privately-worn Zermatt shearling. Soft, soft, soft but with a latex sole offering the slightest support, these are Bikenstock’s truest house shoe.

The soft, moisture-wicking sheepskin wool lining of this classic shoe has made it an all-time favorite from the nostalgic Australian brand. The Scuff comes with a thin rubber sole that has just the right amount of support and stability for being on your feet in the kitchen or just lounging around on the weekend. Colors include the popular chestnut, burnt olive, and espresso.

A velvet house slide? How decadent! Available in five sultry colors, from the splendiferous chocolate brown to jewel-toned grigio, midnight navy, and emerald, these are the slippers to scoop up if you live in a gorgeous Italian palazzo or Singaporean bungalow—or merely wish to steep in that vibe. The brand recommends going a full size up from your usual measurement for maximum comfort.

The Ugg Tasman slipper is even more secure on your feet than the Scuff slipper, with that same foolproof wool lining and suede upper plus a dash of personality by way of the Fair Isle-y Tasman braid on the trim.

To me, the reasons one should buy such slippers as these are as boundless as they are obvious. If I have to spell it out for you, let's start with the joyful imagery—a little bear, donning his fine Ralph Lauren plaid pants and little hat, keeps warm from the cold in much the same way these suede numbers will warm your toes. Although I'd never condone it outright, I would look the other way should I see a pair of these make their way out of the house and into the Polo Bar on a particularly brutal night.

This soft suede, tan slip-on is the epitome of vacation mode. With its leather upper and liner and a rubber outsole textured herringbone-style, this is a mule that you wouldn’t be ashamed to be caught leaving the house in. And we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to parade the handsome devils around a bit. They also have a removable cork insole, so you can easily sit a bit lower in the shoe if you so please.

If you really want to treat yourself, and you should, snag a pair of these chic Versace slippers. Made in Italy, these lightweight cotton terrycloth slippers feature the brand's iconic embossed logo, a padded footbed, and a fun light blue hue. They scream luxury in the best way possible.

That these exuberant wool slippers from the MoMA Design Store—which look as though they've walked themselves straight out of Coppola's Marie Antoinette—cost a mere $65 ($58.50, if you're a member) is such a gift, a blessing from this, New York's greatest gift shop. It matters not if you're in boxers and a robe a la Tony Soprano or a full groutfit (that's gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants.) Finish it off with this burst of red and blue, whose soles read “Made in Charente” in sweet cursive—fourth-generation shoemaker Olivier Rondinaud makes them.

These soft leather slides from Sulka are nothing short of luxurious. Made of fine Italian leather with a sleek silhouette, this is the sophisticated slide that makes the perfect gift for him.
