Jun. 5—The co-owner of one of the newest businesses in downtown Aiken is a veteran downtown business owner.

Jeannette Moseley and her daughter, Cheyenne McElhaney, opened Flawless Glow Cosmetic Studio at 106 Laurens St. on April 6 and they celebrated by cutting a ribbon provided by the Aiken Downtown Development Association last Saturday.

Moseley, who owns the Vampire Penguin franchise located next door with her husband, said she is licensed as a massage therapist and an esthetician. She said now that Vampire Penguin is sort of self-sufficient, she can focus on her passion: the health and wellness beauty business.

"There isn't anything in Aiken or anywhere that you can go to get good quality professional skin care cosmetics, body care, skin care and also have a trained professional guide the customers to the best choices for their skin type," Moseley said. "So I decided Aiken needs that."

Moseley said Flawless Glow carries Glo Skin Beauty and Farmhouse Fresh products.

She said the products she carries are clean — contain no harmful ingredients — and good for the wearer's skin.

Moseley said it was amazing to open a business with her daughter.

"Even though she's not here on a daily basis, she's 25 so she's very tech and social media savvy," Moseley said. "She watches TikTok and stuff like that which I don't do. So she keeps me in line with the new upcoming whereas I cover the aging skin."

The business's location was previously the home of Beyond Bijoux, which moved across the street. The owner of the property, the Aiken Municipal Development Commission, then leased the business to Moseley and her daughter.

Of course, the long-term future of the building still has to be determined.

Moseley said she knows there's a chance she will have to move.

"I try to be open-minded about this whole thing," Moseley said. "I'm a businessperson. I get that in order to make our downtown better, we might have to make some sacrifices. One of those sacrifices will not be Vampire Penguin but it may be Flawless Glow. If that's the case, I will take that as God's will for me to find a place where I can expand."
